Events in your area

Riders for Health attends numerous events in the motorcycling calendar each year. At each event a number of volunteers are required to help our Events Manager and Events Assistant in running the helmet bus and raffle unit. Places are very limited due to the number of passes the circuits allocate to us. It is important for us to know if you already have passes to get into certain circuits so that we can allocate them to volunteers who haven’t got them.events2.jpg

The helmet bus is a large coach, which has been converted into a cloakroom to store leathers, helmets and boots. At each event, for a few pounds, people have the opportunity to leave their belongings on the bus instead of lugging them round a circuit whilst watching a race. Working on the helmet bus involves taking money from the public and putting the kit on the bus until their owners return – a very responsible task for any given volunteer.

Each year, Riders for Health runs a raffle for the chance to win a brand new motorcycle. A raffle unit accompanies the helmet bus at each of the motorcycling events and volunteers are asked to sell tickets to the general public. Volunteers can also be given a certain number of raffle tickets to sell in their local community.events1.jpg

Each year Riders for Health runs a large-scale outdoor event at Donington Park called Day of Champions. Day of Champions always falls on the Thursday before the British MotoGP and gives the general public the chance to go behind the scenes of MotoGP, watch entertainment on the festival style stage and attend the renowned GP auction. It is the only event of its kind and each year it gets bigger and bigger. This is where our volunteers really get involved. We could not run this event without their help and support. Our volunteers will help to run fundraising stalls, sell raffle tickets, take money on the gate and run refreshment stands to name but a few!

If you would like to volunteer at one of these events, please email Elizabeth at volunteer@riders.org

Please note that you must be a registered volunteer to help at an event.
