Calculating our distance

How did we calculate this?

The ‘rolling ticker’ on our homepage illustrates how far vehicles managed by Riders for Health could travel each month. The number of motorcycles, ambulances and trekking vehicles in our programmes is always fluctuating so we have based this calculation on an assumption of total vehicle numbers and the average distance they travel each month.

Riders manage approximately 1,400 vehicles across seven countries which each travel, on average, 1,000 kilometres per month. This means our total fleet of vehicles travels 1,400,000 kilometres every month.

Please note; this is just an estimation designed to be illustrative, not an accurate picture. We will keep the calculation under review and adjust it as our vehicle numbers grow.
