It’s never too early to start fundraising

The last of the snow has melted and the days are getting longer, so now is the perfect time to think about planning a sponsored event for this summer.

There are lots of ways that you can get involved and support our work in Africa. You could do a sponsored run, take part in a long distance motorcycle ride, or why not try something really adventurous, like a skydive?

As with most things in life, good planning always helps. Make sure all your friends, family, work colleagues and even perfect strangers know about your fundraising. Why not set up a JustGiving page, it makes telling people about your event easy, and stops you having to worry about collecting the sponsorship money.

If you need to buy any equipment or carry out any training, now might be the time to start. It’s probably best not to be standing at the start of a marathon and remember the last time you did any running was a cross country run in a freezing cold school P.E. lesson.

Asa-Fatchett.jpgAsa Fatchett took part in the Lincoln 10k run in 2008 and raised £171 for Riders and afterwards he said, ‘I felt great for doing it and raising money that will help people’s lives. I enjoyed being able to do the run and help Riders. It’s a charity that does fantastic work.’

The most important thing is to have fun, and remember that you can be sure that whatever you raise will have a big impact on the live of people we work with in Africa.
