Careers with Riders for Health
Jobs in the USA:
Riders does not currently have job vacancies.
Riders does not offer opportunities to do volunteer work in Africa:
Riders does not operate a volunteering scheme in any of its field programs. It is an important point of principle of Riders’ work that all of the staff we employ in our field programs are nationals of the countries in which we work.
Our policy of creating a sustainable solution to transport problems in Africa means that we are generally unable to accept kind offers of volunteer help. By using nationals, Riders is able to build a lasting base of knowledge and a culture of maintenance in the communities in which it works. All the health workers who use the motorcycles we manage in Africa are employed by the national ministries of health, or other agencies, not by Riders.
The staff that Riders employs in Africa provide the regular preventative maintenance to make sure that the bikes and other vehicles keep running normally. We also have staff that train health workers in safe vehicle handling, and in the basic timely maintenance that keeps vehicles on the road between services.
To manage the fleets of vehicles and the maintenance programs and schedules effectively also requires an administration team in each country. However there are many other ways that you can support Riders and our work in Africa. And by doing so, you will be ensuring that our programs are creating jobs and building a sustainable skills base all across Africa.
You can volunteer from the United States by spreading awareness and raising funds in aid of Riders for Health. For more information see our website's Chapters and Support Us pages!
