Training
Training is at the heart of Riders for Health’s work. With road accidents one of the biggest causes of premature deaths across Africa, our motorcycle and vehicle training courses are designed to keep drivers and riders safe and their vehicles in the best possible condition.
We have established a training school called the International Academy of Vehicle Management (IAVM) with branches in Kenya and Zimbabwe.
We offer training courses in all of our programmes and we can even offer training in countries where we don’t currently work.
All our courses are delivered by certified instructors and are designed for everyone from complete beginners to proficient riders and drivers. Our trainers specialise in teaching health workers and people who provide vital outreach services to drive or ride their vehicle safely and effectively – on both tarmac roads and the toughest terrain.
By combining a blend of theory with hands-on practical training and basic maintenance, not only will your staff be equipped to drive or ride more safely and efficiently but they’ll know how to look after their vehicle.
The success of this system has been proved in Riders programmes for the last 20 years.
Why do Riders’ training?

- Minimised repairs and lower maintenance costs
- Increased lifespan of the vehicle

The professionalism of the school is of a very high standard. The trainer was dedicated to helping us out and had respect for all. Patrick Otieno Omollo, Community health extension worker
