Our history

Thirty years after the conception of Riders for Health, the idea that drives the organisation remains the same: it is unacceptable for millions of people die because they cannot reach the health care they need when the means to reach them do exist.

Riders began in 1989 but didn’t become officially registered as a NGO (non-government organisation) until 1996.

Riders is now an organisation that has set up programmes across Africa, with in four countries programmes currently running and with more in development.
