Riders has been supporting the MoHSW since April 2015 with a Sample Transport system, which is now operational across Liberia. Our motorcycle couriers across 15 different counties connect health centres to laboratories – transporting blood and sputum samples to test for disease.
Riders’ motorcycle courier service was specifically designed to reduce the delay in monitoring and diagnosing diseases like HIV and tuberculosis (TB), but has been invaluable in the diagnosis and treatment of the Ebola virus.
Dedicated motorcycle couriers transport patient specimens between health centres and the laboratory in a professional, consistent and controlled manner. After analysis, the test results are returned and patients can be started on a suitable course of treatment as soon as possible.
We believe that at the heart of a strong health system, is a reliable and well-maintained fleet of vehicles. Riders has set up a fleet management system for 281 four wheeled vehicles and 200 motorcycles in the MoHfleet. Outreach health care is supported by the MoHSW’s fleet of vehicles managed by Riders for Health.
We’re working to support a sustainable programme of reliable healthcare transport that will enable health workers to provide regular care to rural communities and facilitate the delivery of medical supplies to health centres across the country.
